Mega Yacht Charter in Alaska

Monday Jun 4, 2012

One of my most memorable yacht charter trips was on a 130′ mega yacht cruising the Inside Passage of Alaska - up close and personal.  Nothing like kayaking next to an ice floe with a seal perched on top.  Breaching whales right off the bow.  Calving glaciers raining ice chunks into the sea.  Bears foraging along the shoreline.  Eagles, waterfalls, fiords – exquisite and pristine natural beauty.

One day we took a short hike up to a hot spring which was like a jacuzzi in the rocks – it was a cool day, and the warmth of the spring was luscious.  The chief stew popped a couple of bottles of champagne, and after topping us all off, the chef arrived with a silver trayed assortment of hors d’oeuvres.  Decadence in the middle of exquisite natural beauty.  We had the island to ourselves.

The fishing was amazing – fresh caught halibut for dinner,  sushi for lunch, fresh crab benedict for breakfast.  The towns are few and far between so we enjoyed most of our meals onboard.  Sitka, where you can begin or end your trip,  reminded me of a wild west outpost with lots of saloons and ride ‘em cowboy energy.

Seeing this part of Alaska from the deck of your private charter yacht is a once-in-a lifetime experience.  A yacht can get to the special off-the-beaten track spots that are out of range for a larger cruise ship.  Alaska by yacht is the perfect vacation for people who love to savor nature, hike, kayak, fish, and sightsee by helicopter.  You can even take a tour that lands you on a glacier.

This summer, I am delighted to have two exceptional mega yachts for charter in Alaska – the first is  the 130′ Inace mega yacht, Sojourn,  for $75,000/week plus expenses.  Four cabins accommodating up to 8 guests plus a crew of five.  With lots of fishing gear and bait wells, its fighting chairs are waiting for you.

Shogun, a 122′ Flagship mega yacht, charters for $69,000/week with a captain that has been cruising here for 4 years.  A great feature is the option of enclosing the sun deck – you still get the great views without the cool breezes.  Sample itinerary for Shogun – roundtrip from Juneau.
