Oculus is an exciting new addition to the Ocean Getaways’ Caribbean catamaran charter fleet.  One of our favorite catamaran designs, this Lagoon 62 with four queen cabins, offers Caribbean all-inclusive kiteboarding vacations throughout the year.

Oculus was launched last year so it is new, new, new. It has been carefully equipped as a premium, specialty kite boarding catamaran. Two highly experienced instructors are included with every charter. With both a tender and a jet ski as support vessels, Oculus guests can be closely coached and assisted during all stages of the learning process. Safety and a great learning experience are a priority.

This Caribbean All-inclusive Kiteboarding Vacation Follows the Wind for Optimal Conditions

Oculus follows the wind so you can be assured of being in a destination with ideal winds for taking off across the water.  In January, you will find Oculus in Antigua and Barbuda and slowly making its way south to the premier destination in the Caribbean for all-inclusive kiteboarding vacations – the Grenadines.  That stretch of ocean between Union Island and the Tobago Cays is known among boarders as kiteboarding heaven.

One of the positives of kiteboarding to the Caribbean is the consistency of the tradewinds, blowing a steady 15 – 20, occasionally a bit higher in the winter months.

Late May and early June, Oculus will be in the Bahamas. The Exumas are an untouched kiteboarder’s dream. Think remote. Think exquisite natural beauty.  Think crystal clear waters where you can see the fish swimming below you.  Although close to the United States, they feel a million miles away. 365 islands (yes, one for every day of the year) stretching 140 miles from northwest to southeast.  And because there are no kite shops around, you will have the place all to yourselves.

Keen Kiteboarding Charter Crew

All three crew members of Oculas are skilled kiteboarders and both the captain and the mate are qualified instructors. Both have expertise in launching from the boat, from the tender or from land, as appropriate. Whether you are already totally addicted to kiteboarding or a total newbie with a hunger to dance with the wind, Oculus has you covered.

Captain Johan Levin, Chef Lise Levin and First Mate Rafa Sosinski.

Hailing from Sweden, Johan and Lise were active snowboarders and competed as part of the Swedish National Team. In their twenties, they set sail on a 25-foot vessel and adventures around the world for three years. They went on to build their next 45’ boat from scratch – an 11-year endeavor followed by two years of sailing. Eventually, they landed in Antigua where they kindled a passion for kiteboarding.

Johan has a gift of being able to break down any kiteboarding trick, from the most basic to the most advanced, into learnable steps. In other words, he’s a great teacher.

Lise loves to cook fresh, local, and from scratch. Her menu is inspired from her travels around the world.  All of that kiteboarding stimulates the appetite, and Lise aims to please. Take a look at some of her entrees:

  • Mahi-mahi with a lemon cream sauce with pan roasted veggies and colorful potatoes
  • Rum marinated chicken breast barbequed with pineapple salsa and sweet potato timbals
  • Grilled rib eye steak with red wine reduction served with potato gratin and asparagus wrapped in serrano ham
  • Chili-infused lobster risotto
  • Homemade linguini marinara of with clams and shrimps in a white wine sauce
  • Crispy duck, caramelized red endive, spinach and a blackberry sauce, hasselbacks potatoes

For the past five years, first mate Rafa has traveled the world as a kite instructor in locations from the Canary Islands to Vietnam to the Caribbean. Watch out - his enthusiasm for adventure is infectious and may inspire you to reach for new heights.

All-inclusive Kiteboarding Vacation Means All-inclusive

One of the many beauties about kiteboarding on an all-inclusive yacht vacation is that there are plenty of things for any of your non-boarding friends to do - swim, snorkel, fish, shop, paddle board, or jetski.  Or they can just bask on deck enjoying watching you from afar.

Its rate is fully inclusive of instruction, guidance and use of the onboard kiteboarding equipment which includes 5 kites, 7 twin-tip boards, 5 kite surfboards, 3 foil boards, plenty of harnesses, helmets and life jackets.

All meals, an open bar, and the use and instruction of all of the onboard equipment is also included.

Rate: $40,000/8 guests; $38,000/6 guests. Additional costs are cruising taxes, crew gratuity (15-30%), transfers, and airfare.
