Power catamarans yachts are one of the newest entries to the yacht charter fleet with Horizons and Sunreefs being the most popular builders. A power cat is simply a motor yacht with two hulls that are connected with a superstructure in the middle. One of the benefits of a power catamaran charter over a traditional motor yacht is they offer more width and deckspace of a comparably sized motor yacht. So a 70’ catamaran is going to feel larger than a 70’ motor yacht. Also in this size range, catamaran power yachts typically roll less in rougher waters and provide a more stable ride.
Another advantage is power catamaran yacht's shallow draft (that’s the part of the boat that is under the water). This allows them to anchor close to shore and to maneuver in shallow waters – they are ideal for the Bahamas which are known for their skinny waters.
Open Design Concept: Most power catamaran charter yachts have a large aft deck for dining and lounging with double glass doors that lead into a “loft-like” main salon and galley area. They have 3-4 spacious cabins with en suite baths.
Size and location: Most catamaran power yachts are in the 60-70’ range and accommodate 6 to 8 guests. Cruising grounds include the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico with a few power cats located in the Mediterranean.
