House-sized boulders lining a powder white beach - you hike inside the grottos for wading and snorkeling and enjoying the sunsplashed views through the cathedral openings to the sky. Peter Island: Another of the ten best beaches in the Caribbean - Deadm
an's Bay. The name is a bit frightful - it's where Bluebeard stranded his traitors with a cutlass and a bottle of rum. But history, or sea tale, aside, it's on the grounds of the Peter Island Yacht Club and Resort and it's a lovely spot to loll away the afternoon during your sailing vacation in the BVI. The Spa at Peter Island is built overlooking a secluded beach, 150 feet from the water, close enough to hear the waves and high enough to enjoy the astonishing view, bordered by coconut palms and filled with the ever-changing blues of Caribbean sea and sky.
Norman Island: A totally deserted island thought to be
the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island." We often anchor in "The Bight" where pirates used to tuck away their ships, getting ready to plunder and pillage. There's still an old pirate ship, affectionately known as the "Willie T", floating at anchor as well as Pirates ashore. And if you yearn for peace and plenty, you can tuck round the point to Benure's Bay where you might be the only charter yacht in the anchorage.
Anegada: The hidden jewel of the BVI. It's the only atoll in the Virgins and is surrounded by coral reef. It hugs the water so closely, you cannot see it until you are almost there. It's sleepy, magically beautiful with beach after beach with nary a footprint in the sand. Aboard your yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands, after the sun sets and the sky is flooded with stars, you'll swear the world has evaporated around you. Anegada is world renowned among fly fisherman for its bone fishing. Guides and flats boats are available. Lobsters plucked fresh from the sea are a specialty on Anegada.
