Over the years, we have found that most people that charter multiple yachts to sail together on a vacation prefer yachts that are similar in size and luxury. That way, everyone gets a comparable yacht charter experience, and no one ends up feeling that one of the yachts is better than the other. We consider that factor when recommending the “best” yachts for small group charters.
Power Catamarans – Ideal for People That Enjoy Motor Yachts
Power catamarans are a relatively new entry to the charter fleet, and because their superstructure is higher than a sailing catamaran, they tend to offer more interior space. You can get from Point A to Point B more quickly so you can generally cover more distance in a week’s time than on a sailing catamaran.
In an area like the Virgin Islands where everything is so close together, this is a moot point. But in the Bahamas where distances between islands are longer, it’s a great option.
To date, Sunreef and Horizon are the biggest builders of charter power cats, and currently, we have approximately 15 power cats worldwide.
Superyachts – Ideal for Those Seeking the Best of the Best
Superyachts, by nature, are designed to be one-of-a-kind, show stopping, turn every head in the harbor vessels. If you are chartering two or more and you want them to be similar, we will recommend a small fleet of superyachts that offer similar 5-star luxury, service, cuisine, toys and amenities.
Or perhaps, you want to change it up. We had one large multi-generational charter paid for by the grandparents. They chartered a superyacht so that they could host the entire 30-person family onboard for some dockside Happy Hours and buffet dinners. They also chartered two large catamarans – one was for all the teen cousins and the other was for the adult grandchildren who had small families of their own. Each day, the yacht captains created an agenda to suit all preferences. One of the cats created a watersports regatta; the superyachts towed tender cast off with the sport fishing enthusiasts; the superyacht remained at anchor and hosted a spa and relaxation day; the other cat sailed to a nearby port for a historical tour and winery visit… something for everyone.
