OUI CHERIE
Captain Ryan is from a little fishing town called Shady Side, nestled along Maryland's western shore. Growing up on the Chesapeake Bay, he was naturally drawn to the water. Ryan learned to sail when he was eleven years old. When he was sixteen, he became a certified US Sailing Instructor and ran his local junior sailing program. Ryan's coastal urge led him to the warmer waters of Wilmington, North Carolina where he attended Cape Fear's Marine Technology School and acquired his 100 ton Master Captain's License. During the summer, you would find Ryan teaching surf lessons at Wrightsville Beach and sailing with his friends as often as he could.
Jill grew up in the sailing capital of the United States, Annapolis- Maryland. College brought her south to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned a degree in Health and Applied Science. Upon graduation, Jill packed her bags and bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand where she lived and worked for the Red Cross for a year. Not long after her return to Wilmington, North Carolina, she started her own personal training business called Shore Fitness and spent her mid-day breaks running at the beach, surfing, and or going to yoga.
Ryan and Jill met through mutual friends and their first date was a road trip. Their similar passions for surfing, traveling, sailing, and good music made it natural for these two fish to fall for one another. What they didn't know was that from here on out- the world would become their oyster. 'Will work for travel' was their motto! Throughout their travels Ryan and Jill were introduced to many new recipes and cooking styles from which they continue to share with friends and family. Each would take turns replicating their favorite dishes like: fresh catch fish tacos, thai chicken lettuce wraps, island ceviche, tostones with mango-habanero guacamole, grilled street corn with chipotle mayo, honey barbecue chicken pizza, pretty much anything that they craved on a weekly basis. Jill brings her love for tasty international flavors directly to the White House galley, but is also well-versed in American classics and special diets like gluten free, vegan and paleo.
By 2016, Ryan and Jill bought their very first home, a 1985 Niagara 35' sailboat named Nalu and moved back to the Chesapeake Bay. Vacation time no longer consisted of long plane rides, but long sails. Jill became a yoga and SUP instructor and Ryan spent his time developing his maritime skills: chartering boats, rigging, surveying, and gaining lots of valuable sea time as a boat delivery captain.
Ryan and Jill are an energetic, enthusiastic and experienced crew ready to treat guests to fun, memorable holidays. They have transformed their love for having fun above and below the water into a great vacation package for active groups, families and those wanting to get the most out of their trip!
