A weeklong Tahiti and French Polynesia yacht charter itinerary is the perfect ctrl+alt+delete every soul needs, every now and then, to reset and recharge. Fancy a week in paradise?
Here are all the amazing experiences you can include on your 8-day Tahiti and French Polynesia yacht charter.
-
Day 1 Arrive in Tahiti
Moments after landing in Papeete, your blood pressure suddenly drops to a blissful low. Tahiti has this kind of effect on visitors. One of the fastest growing yacht charter destinations of all, Tahiti is idyllic tropical paradise personified. It is here that the world’s most unblemished reefs and pristine waters hide. Far away from the rest of the world. A busy world that never stops, never rests and never lulls. When it does…this is where it comes to chill out.
Make sure you plan a few extra days here, either before or after your Polynesian yacht charter, to tour Tahiti. This is the Windwards’ largest isle and, together with her ‘consorts’, covers an area that’s as extensive as the whole European Union. There’s a striking French vibe about Tahiti, an island with flair and charm, and a place that’s insanely flirtatious. Give her some of your time, and she’ll show you all her gorgeous treasures. Stay a night or two at one of Tahiti’s famous overwater bungalow resorts, from where you can take a city tour, explore local markets, visit the Pearl Museum and hike the magical Vaipahi Gardens.
Your yacht captain will meet you on your first charter day and guide you aboard your luxury yacht charter. After a sumptuous mid-day lunch, you’ll cast off on your Polynesian journey of discovery.
-
Day 2 Mo’orea
As you cast off for Mo’orea you’ll be instantly transported to a new world, one where the hardest decision you’ll need to make, is whether to snorkel before afternoon tea and windsurf later…or the other way around. Spend your first afternoon exploring the crystalline waters, taking turns to kayak, paddle and wake board or, in the words of ancient Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu, ‘perfect the art of doing nothing.’ Enjoy your first taste of a Polynesian reef and admire nudi branches and the colorful fish thriving off Opunohu Bay. This is one of the world’s most sought after diving destinations, and the best place to encounter humpback whales during the winter months. Craving some pampering? Then why not indulge in a relaxing and soothing massage? Upon request, your yacht can transform into the most opulent health spa you’ve ever visited. After a delicious dinner served under the stars, you’ll set off for a short sail to Huahine.
-
Day 4 Huahine
Often describes as French Polynesia’s most picturesque treasure, Huahine boasts a varied landscape of steep rocky mountains, verdant coastal jungles and outstanding beaches. This geological concoction makes it unique in the region, and knowing there are ancient temples hidden between the canopies of her forests adds a phenomenal pinch of mystique.
Offering arguably the biggest dose of escapism in all of French Polynesia, Huahine is an exquisite, rugged, isolated slice of deliciousness, in every sense. Hike to the revered marae (temple) set amongst unspoiled wilderness, horse ride a stretch of desolate beach, explore Huahine’s underwater riches with your private SCUBA diving instructor and visit ancient villages that have existed here for more than 1,000 years. Renowned as the Garden of Eden in this corner of the South Pacific, Huahine is a twin-island gem, which you can sail around and in between at will.
-
Day 5 Raiatea
Sharing the same impressive lagoon as Huahine, Raiatea is yet another beautiful destination. Once you cast your eyes on her, you’ll understand why local islanders believe this was the birthplace of the Gods who created Polynesia. Brimming with pineapple and vanilla plantations and boasting a gorgeous stone temple, Raiatea is as enticing to explore on foot as she is to explore on flippers. In this corner of the Pacific, the islands are close together, and the reefs which join them are revered by SCUBA divers. Home to an abundance of fish of all shapes and sizes, as well as wrecks, sea mounts and splendid walls of purple coral. Diving The Pass between Huahine, Raiate and Taha’a is one of the many bucket-list activities you can tick off your list when you charter a yacht in French Polynesia.
-
Day 6 Taha’a
Home of the world’s most coveted vanilla pods and pearls, Taha’a is a fragrant and resplendent stopover. Circumnavigate her aboard your yacht, tour a vanilla plantation and don’t forget the credit card when visiting a local pearl farm. No, really! A few stunning resorts rest among the luscious landscapes of Taha’a. Enjoy an on-shore seafood lunch and a spot of shopping, or hop on a bicycle for a tour of a local village. Life on these islands is so simple and such a world away from ours, that experiencing it first-hand can have a very intense and rewarding effect.
-
Day 7 Bora Bora
The French Polynesian island that needs little introduction, Bora Bora is one of the most drool worthy holiday and honeymoon destinations in the world, a place that seems to cast a bewitching spell on all who visit. She is a stunner, there’s certainly no arguing that. But she also has character, charm and a lot of substance, at least in the luxury pampering department. Five star opulent resorts, beachside restaurants that are worthy of a movie set and an incredible canvas of colors that are a painter’s dream. For many, Bora Bora is the ultimate sailing destination and on a Tahiti and French Polynesia yacht charter itinerary she takes center stage. The belle of the Polynesian ball offers a myriad of attractions, surprising really, considering her diminutive size. From inviting turtles and rays just itching for your company underwater, to thrilling shark feedings, 4WD wilderness safaris and more options that spell ROMANCE (yes, in capitals) than in any other place, Bora Bora makes for a simply terrific end to a week of sailing in French Polynesia.

Day 8 Disembarkation in Bora Bora
